The induction coil is a fundamental component to achieving the required metallurgical results for any induction application. Coils are carefully designed and built specifically for the work piece it encloses with many different factors taken into consideration. Work piece material, size, and geometry all influence the configuration of the coil and depending on the design, the difficulty can range anywhere from simple to complex.
Oftentimes minor modifications are needed to be made during the development process to perfect the heat treat pattern. Luckily, KVA employs the most highly skilled coil builders and machinists that produce accurate tolerances for consistent process ability. Here at KVA our full service tooling department will work with you to not only design, develop, and manufacture new coils, but also repair ones that are damaged as well.
3D printed coils are made as one piece so there are no brazed joints.
The first coil is made the same as the last, making tolerance and repeatability no longer a concern.
We can make coils and their cooling pockets as intricate as needed.
The position of the induction coil relative to the heated length of the part does not move. The part rotates while heating and quenching occur to ensure uniformity of pattern.
Typically used where a long heated length is required or in line continuous applications where a soak time is required for the heat to reach the center of the component.
The quench is integrated right into the induction coil itself and typically has separate pockets for water cooling and quench delivery.
The quench is NOT part of the induction coil assembly and is often delivered in a different station or position like a quench barrel for example.
A quick change coil adapter is utilized to minimize down time when induction coil changes are frequent because of mixed production, and part or tooling changeovers.
Bus bar systems are often used for power distribution and will connect the induction coil with the remotely positioned generator.
